Possible New Facebook Features–The ‘Want’ Button and More!

Facebook may be adding new features, such as a ‘Want’ button, that could impact contractor marketing efforts and boost contractor leads for your business.

It appears that Facebook is still in the process of updating and adding features to support businesses and their marketing efforts via Facebook. Of course, in doing so, they’re also creating a more integrated experience for non-business users.

What’s the new feature that’s possibly in the works for Facebook?

The talk around the web is that Facebook is testing a ‘Want’ button that would allow Facebook users to add a product to their virtual wish list. In addition, as reported on Mashable, a developer reviewing Facebook code “found a series of new coding actions that would allow users to share product purchases, charitable donations or items purchased within Facebook games to profile pages and Timeline.”

These new possibilities would create a great opportunity to boost contractor leads by creating the possibility of going viral for products and services as we’ve seen on sites such as Pinterest. It would give businesses another avenue to boost contractor marketing by promoting their business and getting some insight into what consumers ‘want’ when it comes to services and products.

What should you be doing in the meantime to utilize Facebook fully and prepare for upcoming changes?

  1. Ensure your Facebook profile is complete and up-to-date.
  2. Engage frequently on your Facebook page via posts, responses, networking, etc.
  3. Continue to research and educate yourself on Facebook and their upcoming changes.

What do you think about these possible changes to Facebook? Do you think Facebook should continue supporting businesses in such as way, or is it getting to be too much?
